Rules

 
 

  • Please submit 2 jars for each category entered (one for judging, one for display).

  • Use template at bottom to label your jars (tape or use a rubber band to wrap around jar)

    • Registration number will be assigned when delivered

      • Jars must have a proper seal. Wax or broken seals will not be accepted.

      • Contestants are limited to one entry per category.

    • Contestants may enter as many categories as they wish.

    • Prizes awarded will be 1st and 2nd for each category, and “The Big Dill” (aka, Best in Show).

    • Best in Show is based on overall score. Tie breaker is the consensus of the judges.

    • Scoring – scale of 1-10 in 4 categories:

      • Appearance

      • Flavor

      • Quality

      • Texture

Your entry must be delivered to Mellotone Oct 25, 2026 by 11am – by mail, or by hand.

The award ceremony will be Sunday, Oct 25, 2026 at 3pm

It all started when…

Marsha and Justin wondered if we could create a pickle contest for the Greater Cincinnati region. We met during the 2020 pandemic summer and kept revisiting the idea since then. In 2023 we tested the idea; 2026 continues our quest to make the pickle shine!
